What to Pack for Your Grand Canyon North Rim Day Trip

Located just more than an hour-and-a-half from Kanab, the Grand Canyon North Rim is the perfect day trip for the guests of Parry Lodge. We always recommend that our travelers make an effort to spend a day at this part of the Grand Canyon, because it offers a unique experience and is less crowded with tourists.

At Parry Lodge, we suggest that you bring the following on your day trip to the Grand Canyon North Rim:

Several Layers of Clothing

The temperature at the North Rim can vary widely, based on the season or even the specific time of day that you are there. It's also usually significantly cooler than the temperature at the South Rim. It's best to wear layers, so that you can shed or add them as the temperature changes throughout the day.

Hiking Gear

Like the South Rim, there are many hiking trails to explore along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Put on your favorite pair of hiking boots, grab your hiking bag and fill it with all of your favorite supplies before you head out for your day trip.

Camera and Camera Equipment

There's no shortage of spectacular vistas along the North Rim. You won't want to forget your camera, and any additional photography equipment that you like to bring along. Tripods are great for getting photos of yourself at the North Rim as well!

Snacks and Water

Whether you are hiking or just soaking up the North Rim views, you'll want to be nourished and hydrated during your day away. Snacks like nuts, crackers, cheese and fresh fruit are easy to pack, and don't forget to bring plenty of water.

Parry Lodge is in the perfect location for those who love to explore the U.S. National Parks. Not only are we within a short drive of the Grand Canyon North Rim, but our hotel is located just 34 minutes from Zion National Park and an hour from Lake Powell. We love to recommend customized day trips and tours to our guests based on their own individual needs and preferences.
